My YouTube Tracks of the Day comes from a guy by the name of Gavin Mikhail…

He’s an American pianist, singer-songwriter, and composer from Nashville, Tennessee who has made a success out of going the independent route… He has never been signed by a record company – done everything on his own and it has obviously worked because he has apparently released more than 30 singles off 4 albums since 2002.

His success really came when he won a competition in England in 2007 – called the “Lay it Down and Mix It Up In The UK” which was a fan-vote contest.

Gavin began studying classical piano and pipe organ by age 7 and began performing at weekly church services by age 10. He went on to graduate with a finance degree in 1995 but his loved has remained with music… Her started his YouTube channel two years ago and has received some 5.6-million views…

This is his cover of an Ed Sheeran track which has gotten more than 114 000 views (too little imo!)…

This is my YouTube Track of the Day – It’s Gavin Mickail – with his rendition of “The A Team”.

My YouTube Tracks of the Day comes from a whopper of a musical duo! They have received sooo much success on the site after Ryan Seacrest posted the video of one of their covers on his blog under the heading of – “YouTube Singer Gives Nicki Minaj A Run for Her Money”! Then they appeared on the Ellen Show!

The two – Amy Heidemann and Nick Noonan – have received more than 204-million views on YouTube – and only started their youtube channel a year ago!

The two actually release an album in 2010 – which they put out themselves… Called “Inside Out”

Their success on the site caught the attention of record exec’s last year and they have subsequently been signed to Epic Records and their album is due for release in the US – tomorrow!

The duo I am talking about is: Karmin! They have done extremely well for themselves doing covers and original songs…

The track I chose for ya is a cover… It’s their rendition of the track by Eminem ft. Bruno Mars & Royce Da 5’9 called “Lighters” which has received more than 6.8-million views… And lemme just say this; white gal can rap!

My YouTube Tracks of the Day is from a gal by the name of Cathy Nguyen and guy by the name of Jason Chen… Botyh very established on YouTube – each in their own right.

Cathy started her channel 4 years ago (called lilcdawg) and it has received more than 41.6-million views and was at some stage in 2010 – one of the top 50 most subscribed to channels on YouTube.

Cathy was actually featured in an article in the New York Times a few years ago about really talented Asian-American musicians who don’t get lots of airplay or television time because producers fear American audiences won’t receive them well…

23 year old Jason Chen started his channel (called miniachilles) also four years ago – and it has received more than 105-million views!

Jason Chen has really capitalised on his YouTube success starting an organisation / production company / apparel brand called Music Never Sleeps…

The track I have chosen for you was loaded in March last year and has gotten just shy of over 800 000 views…

This is my YouTube track of the Day – Cathy Nguyen ft Jason Chen – with their cover of Pink’s track; Perfect.

My selection today comes from guitarist/vocalist Tim Harakal and percussionist Julian Gavin and the first video of theirs that I actually found was an entry into an online music cover competition that was run by Perez Hilton. I then went searching for more of Tim Harakal’s videos on YouTube and found his YouTube channel which he started 7 months ago. And in that space of time he actually hasn’t received as many views as I thought he would have – it’s got a little over 111 000. Why has this guy not been discovered properly yet?!

A bit of Tim’s bio on his site reads like this: “Tim Harakal’s self-taught hands are at one with the guitar strings, they have become an extension of his heart, soul, and spirit. Influenced by his favorite band Metallica, his music morphed into an acoustic art form with a pop-rock edge. He’s written and recorded 40+ songs during his college years, many times in lieu of going to class. He dropped out of his biology major with one semester to finish and began playing coffee shops, cafes, opera houses, pubs etc. in the greater Philadelphia area.”

In the end I decided to go with the very first video of his that I found… Here it is – Tim Harakal and Jules – with their rendition of the Jason Mraz track – I Won’t Give Up.

Enjoy!

My selection today comes from a guy by the name of Corey Gray… His YouTube Channel – Official Corey Gray has received just shy of 4-million views since uploading his first cover song nine months ago…

Because of the success that he has experienced on YouTube he released an album which is also available on iTunes. It is very aptly named Discovery with the letters cover in the title a different colour – so in essence he is embracing the fact that he performs covers.

Trending Records wrote a perfectly simply bio about the guy – “Corey first began playing drums at the age of 10. Soon after, he picked up guitar, piano, and bass and began playing shows in the Dallas area with his first band, The Gym Class Dropouts. Although he loved being the drummer for the group, he began writing music to perform solo at local coffee shops and small venues. Corey continues to pour his soul into every chord and lyric at local venues and clubs all over Hollywood.”

So my YouTube track of the day comes from Corey Gray – this is his cover of 3 Doors Down track – Here Without You… Now those are some really big shoes to fill if you ask me cause I am a huge 3 Doors Down fan. But when I heard this I was like Whoa! He also plays the piano in this track as well as laying down the vocals.

Enjoy…

My YouTube track of the day involves me scouring through YouTube and sifting through video’s uploaded by well know and not so well known YouTube artists and wannabe’s until I come across a track that is worthy of being played just for you…

My selection today actually features a collaboration of two YouTube artists each successful in their own right on the video site…

The one is a group of four vocalists who go by the name Ahmir… They have actually been rated as the number one most popular R&B Group on YouTube. The other is a kid who calls himself Casper…

Now I’ll be honest – at first I was going to skip past this song when I saw that Casper seemed like another Justin Bieber… But I figured – I ought to give credit where there is talent. Casper was born in 1995 (which doesn’t make me feel inadequate at all :P) he is from a little town in the Netherlands and made it to the top 15 of the Netherland’s version of ‘Popstars’…

So here is my YouTube Track of the Day selection: It’s Ahmir featuring Casper – with their rendition of Usher’s track – Turn up the Music

My YouTube track of the Day selection for today is by a guy by the name of Sam Tsui… He’s from a little town called Blue Bell in Pensylvania – born May 2, 1989…

He is described on the internet as a musician and Internet celebrity who rose to fame on YouTube. Well how appropriate then! His videos have received tens of millions of views – the most is his cover of Nelly’s track “Just a Dream” which he recorded with another YouTube artist – Christina Grimmie – and that video has reached 46.8-million views…

You can check out Sam’s videos on the KurtHugoSchneider YouTube channel.

And that’s where I got today’s track from… It’s one of Sam’s original tracks called “Start Again” and it has gotten more than 5-million views for this one… Here it is – my YouTube Track of the Day selection by Sam Tsui.
